A guide to cheap air fryers
03 March 2020If you thought healthy eating was all beetroot lasagna and celery smoothies, think again. The future is here, my friend, and it’s a whirlwind of high-tech fry-tech that’ll revolutionise your approach to healthy meals cooked at home.
An ‘air-fryer’ might sound like something out of science-fiction but thanks to a group of scientists — nay, heroic pioneers — it’s now a reality available on your kitchen worktop.
If you’re after an air fryer but are worried they’re too expensive, we’ve done some research to take the pain out of what should be a pleasurable purchase. Now you can enjoy air fried food at a fly price. But first, some background:
How does an air fryer work?
Good question! Air fryers work by combining small amounts of oil with hot air then submerging your food in the air / oil mixture that’s so delicious you’ll wonder what the hell you’ve been doing this whole time. This heats your grub up via a process called convection, which uses less oil and therefore fewer calories so you can enjoy the taste of your favourite fried foods with the smugness of knowing you’ve made a healthy choice. Tasty smugness — is there anything better?
What can you cook in an air fryer?
A better question would be, what can’t you cook in an air fryer? Air fryers are incredibly versatile and will work with any food you’d normally enjoy fried or grilled. You could try french fries, sweet potato fries, chicken nuggets, sweet potato salmon cakes and plenty more. If your house has been a strictly no-fry zone, why not check out the recipes on Women’s Health Mag to start you off.
